Blog Contest = Blog Traffic = Blog Revenue

There have been various strategies implemented by many bloggers to get the required readers a blogger aims at. One of these methods which has been very successful and has been implemented by bloggers in the past is the holding of a contest on your blog. The traffic gets directed by search engines and also through word of mouth because every human wants to earn a prize or say a reward for that matter. Thus, ‘holding a contest strategy’ is actually a win-win situation for both the blogger and the readers.

Let’s face it, for bloggers who would love to monetize his blog and earn lots of “moolah”, one needs a constant traffic. This traffic will not only result in popularity but also helps in generating that much needed blogging revenue. The constant visit and presence of the visitors and the increasing surge of visitors are just a few satisfaction for a blogger in return for all the effort and hard work.

To get that much needed traffic, one has to work hard to get it. Aside from meaty and interesting write-ups. The blogger needs to give that push to be felt in the blogosphere. Some bloggers opt to do the SEO thing, but for non-techie like me, I want to do it the easy way. One way to attract visitors is to hold a blog contest.

The holiday season is just around the corner and now is the right time to kick of that contest. Here are some tips that might work for you.

  1. Simple mechanics to join - It is not enough to hold that contest to attract your readers. They will not participate if they feel that it is too complicated. Try to make it as simple as possible. Do not let your readers sign on too many subscriptions, apart from it is a bore. They might just leave your site and never to go back again, because of that hard push. Make it simple, keep it fun.
  2. Give Away Prizes – Who does not want to win a prize and to get a gift. Ofcourse, everyone has a child within us. That gift will give your contest a much needed boost. You can go to as much as the most expensive ( techie gadgets, laptops, etc) or some opt to give practical give aways like discount coupons. I find it to be a practical give away since the winner of your contest will be given the liberty to choose on the items that he/she finds to be useful to him/her from different stores (like Amazon, Walmart, Buy.com, Cooking.com etc, etc). An attractive price is a good motivation for your visitors to participate.
  3. Deadlines – set a deadline, no one wants to join a contest whereas they do not know when will it end and get the results/
  4. Promotion – They will never know what is up in your blog, if you will not let others know it. Publicize if you can. Attract others to participate.

A blog contest is a good blog traffic builder. So what are you waiting for, strategize now and plan for a blog Contest. Surely, Webbycontest will join……..

I have to agree with #3, if a promo has no deadline your target market will most probably take your promo for granted. Plus, it’ll also give an idea that no one is actually joining the promo. #4 is also correct you don’t just announce it in your site use every available platform.

I know of several bloggers who have done this with a lot of success. For the most you'd be surprised by how much traffic one can get by offering free stuff.
